I ordered the 180 grs. vinylversion of Gift Of Screws and it just arrived. For europeans: you can order this from amazon in the usa, and you pay a little under 20 euro's! Including shipment! You get the vinyl AND the audiophile CD of the analog vinylmaster. The thing sounds fabulous! So much more "space" and warmth! Especially on TPT and Bel Air Rain you can hear more of lindsey's "touch" on the strings and to my ears it's a new experience.
On Love Runs Deeper you can hear so much more in the choruses and I really think the dynamic-change with the verses sound more organic on this CD.
I haven't played the vinyl yet, but I can really recommend this set!
I got it when it came out and I don't remember there being any real difference in the CD. I keep meaning to copy it onto my computer as .wav files and compare it to the main CD release to see how different it is. But after your evaluation I'll make an effort to give it another listen next time I'm home and see if it sounds any different this time round.

You know Peestie, I'm not an audiophile AT ALL, but on my crappy stereo I could defintely hear more and experience a lot more space. And it is as if you can tell all sounds apart from eachother. Less dense. Not on all songs equally aparent but still on quite a few tracks...
I'll give it a listen when I'm home.

I listened to the vinyl more than the CD. The CD maybe got one spin but I tend to play the LP when I'm home rather than either of the CD versions.
I finally got round to listening to this today. I mustn't have listened to it before because I agree that it does sound much better than the more compressed CD version.

I've just ripped as FLAC to my computer so that I can have a copy in all its glory when I'm away from home.

I was very pleased with the threedimensional effect in Great Day, TPT sounds much more natural in some weird way, and the dynamic/volume-changes in Love Runs Deeper simply sound more logic/organic, don't you agree? What are the advantages in your ears?
I've only listened to it once since I got home because the rest of the time has been spent listening to Ronnie James Dio (RIP) albums. I think the higher frequencies sounded clearer. For example, in LRD the acoustic guitars seemed that bit clearer and they all had more of their own space. Everything just sounded that bit cleaner and clearer. I'll definitely be giving it lots more spins this weekend when my Dio tribute week is over and hopefully be back with more detailed observations.
Have you listened to the vinyl yet? How did you think it compares?

The vinyl gave the same result, apart from the extra warmth that that sound always has had.
My rainbowalbums had some spins too this week....
