To everyone who thinks Fleetwood Mac is over: here's my view after two european shows.

I was with my family in Oberhausen and it was a very good show. We had the most perfect seats and our new fosterchild (14) liked the rocking songs the most, he had goosebumps during ISA. Our son (9) was sooo excited before the show, screaming Lindsey! Mick! Go Your Own Way! At 7.45.

He liked it a lot, especially the opening songs. During the acoustic part of the show he just crashed from exhaustion and he fell asleep with his head in my lap just before Oh well and ISA. I just teared up during the solo, because I thought: who had thought 30 years ago that I would experience lindsey playing ISA live with my son sleeping in my lap? Very special.

In Rotterdam, I was 5 feet deadcenter from the stage on the floor flipping out on the best FM show I ever saw. Rotterdam was spectacular. Something I'd never thought could happen in 2009. They were in toptoptopform. My brother, who saw Oberhausen too- went to the Berlinshow-he lives there- and was overwhelmed too. They really progressed in this first week in Europe.

It's impossible to compare it with the fabulous Lindseyshows I saw a year ago, because of the intimacy, but overall I'm really impressed with their performance, and feel of the performance. Even the acidpissing serious press in the Netherlands was touched by the show. They really got raving reviews over here.

So I had some Great Days here. It's amazing that they still have it in 2009.

Everyone in great brittain: have fun! You're up for a real treat.
I'm starting to really look forward to the Dublin show this Saturday. I've been so busy that I've hardly even thought about it but at this point I'm starting to get so excited for it. Your reviews only make me even more enthusiastic about it.Bigthumbsup

Our seats aren't the best (I hate Ticketmaster) but I don't mind too much since I saw Lindsey front row and twice from second row on the GOS tour so I guess I can't complain too much Big Grin
Yes, Gerald. Yes!

I went to the Oberhausen show with my youngest sister (19), who's more of a Lindsey fan than a Stevie fan. She absolutely loved the show and although she hadn't planned on going again, the next day she frantically searched for a ticket to the Rotterdam show. Rotterdam was such a fantastic show, she's still talking about it. It turned this 19-year old (who's music taste includes the likes of Justin Timberlake Crazy ) into a full-blown Fleetwood Mac fan. She came over the other day to pick up all my albums and dvd's.

Everybody that I know that has gone to a show raved about it. I have to say, I was a little afraid that it wasn't going to be the tour that I had hoped it to be, but it surpassed all my hopes. It really was great. Wavey
Fleetwood Mac will go on forever
With great shows & passionate performances
And excellent assistance from Brett & Neale & Taku & so on.
They're playing better than ever! Applause

I missed them this tour owing to unforeseen circumstances, but I will be sure to catch them the next time around.

I hope they do a new album ............ or redo an old album.

I agree, Dave. I was just trying to converse with Gerald! He still likes Fleetwood Mac.

Well, ofcourse I was pointing at you guys with the title of this thread. I don't think I like Fleetwood Mac anymore. I like Lindsey, because, whatever you guys may think of him, he's still going for development and forward motion.

I was sick to the stomach when I read the setlist and the cheap cash-in tour they were planning. But I witnessed it two nights and it was electrifying. And even the arty dutch press that never has written positive about this band was touched and impressed with this show. Believe me, this could have been the easiest moment to write them to hell, but everyone was flabbergasted by the feel and intensity of the show.

Whatever you guys will say about their voices and their lack of playfulness, they made a big big big impression over here. period.

I guess you should have been there.

Seriously David, my memories from the Rumours to Tango era, are so vivid, and EXCITING. God, I'd wear out 8 track after 8 track, then cassette after cassette, and later CD after CD. I absolutely worshipped the band, back then. And I much prefer now, to remember their heyday, as opposed to the moneymaking, golden moldies machine, that they've become now.

And Gerald, I DO think that Lindsey's the only one with any credibility left(okay, John does, too). Stevie's a joke to me, now, and Mick an utter loon.

Long live Fleetwood Mac, from 1967-1987!!!!! Wavey

It was a fun time, Dave -- unless we're guilty of idealized memories blurred by nostalgia, which is a possibility, I guess.

Still, what I like about Gerald is his balls-to-the-wall enthusiasm for the radicalism of Fleetwood Mac's stylistics & aesthetics -- even if I think he overstates the case.

Gerald would have been a super-fun fan to hang around with in 1980.

I am alot more fun to hang around with now. Mad

Gerald, very happy you had such a great time, especially with your son on your lap. That's what it's all about.

I rediscovered the Rumours bonus material a couple of days ago and I am really digging the Gold Dust Woman acoustic demo. Even picked up my guitar to play it that way.

Tried to listen to the FM white album. Stuck it in the car CD player and got through it once, but when it came around again, I just couldn't do it. Could it be possible those songs are finally starting to sound dated?

You know, Carne, I agree with the white album. I don't play it too often, because of the same reason you didn't do it twice. But after a few months I can play AND enjoy it again. I must say I have the same thing with rumours, although almost ALL the bonusmaterial is really cool. It's Tusk that still surprises me, and I played that one tenthousand times more than the other two. The bonusstuff on Tusk is great too.

The momentum of lindsey playing ISA and my son sleeping in my lap was totally priceless and something to cherish.
The most amazing experience was the energy of the Rotterdamperformance: they really had their moment as a band there. Surprisingly, but they really really had fun, not just saying it but it was real and heartfelt. Pretty stunning.
