Anyone else see their first Mac concert during the Rumours Era? Got any clips?
My first Mac concert was November 26, 1979 in Pittsburgh Pa. at the Civic Arena (still home of the Penguins who are currently sweeping through the NHL playoffs

).
Here is the ad for the show:
And another blurb from the day of the show's edition of the paper:
a quick aside, I always hated when they cropped that picture and spliced stevie to front and center. it is such a fantastic picture in it's original form to me, both in 'eye-flow' (i got no technical terms so I'll make one up) and how the band is wrapped around Linds, except stevie who kinda drifted off to the side. LOVE THAT PICTURE, but only in it's original form.
This is the review with ticket stubs.
I particularly like a couple parts:
1. "perhaps $14.50 and $12.50 were just too much for inflation-ravaged wallets. . . "

I guess it seemed like a lot back then.
2. "the band turned melodic rockers and easy rockers into piledrivers."
I loved this about those old shows, they seemed to have an overdrive and they weren't afraid to use it. My mom and my friends mom bought tickets last minute to this show as well. They left less than halfway through because they didn't sound like the album and it was "too loud". Fleetwood Mac made my mom leave. They weren't pop after-all, rock and roll baby. I thought that was cool.
Just for fun time.
This is the back of the ad for the show:
*Aerosmith for 8.75
*tom petty playing with the fabulous poodles

*the pittsburgh chamber music on Nov. 5th , "Music from Marlboro" - smokey tunes?
I'd forgotten that Todd Sharp was in Danny Douma's band on that tour. Obviously in between Bob Welch tours.
Considering MOST concerts were $8 or $9 (as you can tell by the ads on the back of the FMac ad), yeah, the $14.50 was steep!!!

I had gotten my first job (in a graveyard
) a couple months before the concert so for the first time in my life, I had my own cash. There was no way I was missing this. My seat was the first section on Lindsey side off the floor.
I forgot to mention that this was my first concert overall as well.
I don't count the time my mom dragged me to see Bobby Vinton two years earlier. I just don't.
My first Rumours era concert was this one:
08/31/75 Rod Stewart/Faces, Loggins & Messina, Fleetwood Mac, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Balboa Stadium - San Diego.
The only thing I remember was that Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill wine, pot and red licorice don't mix well.
Bill - did you grow up in Pittsburgh? My mom and her 8 brothers and sisters were raised in Pitcairn.

Wow, what a line-up. Do you remember what order they played? Yes I ask even though you said "the only thing I remember. . . ".
and yep, I'm a Pittsburger (extra cheese). My mom was the baby of 12. You sure we aren't related?
Pitcairn? not familiar with that term though.

I'm pretty sure Rod Stewart was the headliner and know that Fleetwood Mac didn't open the show. Your guess is as good as mine for the rest of the order though.

Pitcairn is east of Pittsburgh near Turtle Creek (crick) and Monroeville.

First time I saw them w/Lindsey & Stevie was about a week later at Anaheim Stadium...same lineup, except no Skynyrd. Fleetwood Mac was the OPENING act, Loggins & Messina second, Faces headlined.
Hmmmm...something about that trilogy of vices sounds VERY familiar...but, didn't have that same result however.

I kinda thought Skynyrd opened so that makes sense. As for the vices, I should have added that I had literally just returned days before from a summer working in the Smoky Mountains (Gatlinburg). Add the other 3 vices to the hot sun on my lily white skin (from lack of CA sunshine) and that also didn't mix well.
I know we also attended the same show in March 77 at the Sports Arena. David told me that you were the one that recorded that show. I don't remember security being very strict back then but what did you use to record it?

Yeah, March 10th, Stephen Bishop was the opening act...but, no, I wasn't the one who actually recorded it, but I DID have the original one & only cassette recording of the partial show that is now being circulated widely (I made a copy for David and the rest is history) It was actually a drummer I was working with at the time's tape, but somehow I ended up with it when we parted ways. (amicably, but I just lost touch with him over time and never was able to give the tape back to him)
this is off topic, but i was only 1 yr old, so i didn't make the show
Biaaaatch.
BUT. i thought that was a tusk-era photo ?? it's my favorite band photo of all time. it is so telling of where they all were individually and as a group. you can see it in their faces and body language.
yes bb a tusk era photo. The show I went to was from the "tusk" tour. It was during the "rumours" band line-up era is what I meant in my original post. That's why I put it in this forum. Confusing? try one of these
or two

That's my fave photo of the band...EVER. I have the poster framed on my wall. I think they all look hot. LOL
I wasn't alive yet during the Rumours era.
Miss Vicky = child of the 1980's
Edit: I see Michelle has posted that she was 1 at the time.
In 1977, I was -4 years old.
I was thinking the same thing as 'tucky. That's a TUSK photo!
So would The Dance photos count, too?
As a wee lad, I saw The Tusk tour, too. I was sick as a dog, but BEGGED my Mom to let me go anyway, since my Aunt had already bought me a ticket. It was the Birch Bayh benefit show(if you read Mick's book, he talks about Birch[an IN state senator back then] helping them get Mick, John, and Chris' green cards. They were so thankful, they played the show in Indy, as a benefit to his political campaign).
My favorite show though(and best ticket I ever had - 5th row center), was Mirage. God, it was awesome. I thought Hold Me was fantastic, even though apparently the band didn't. Lindsey SCREAMING, "why don't you come on and a!!!!!". I was in heaven. My favorite show ever, by anyone.
November 26, 1979 I was exactly 3 months old. I really hate that I missed the 70s.
and whoever said that's their fav photo of the band, yep, it's mine too. hot. hot. hot.
