Hello, all. Just wanted to file a quick report on the New York show. Lindsey and the band sounded terrific. Really, I would classify this as the best show of the three I have seen in the last two years. The set is so much more dynamic than with the UTS tour, which as good as it was, was a bit low-key.
Even though I am not crazy about the song, I have to say Great Day was a good show starter. It is dramatic and showcases Lindsey's guitar prowess immediately. Love Runs Deeper sounded fantastic. That early part of the show is so high-energy, it's hard to believe he can keep it up as soon as he does until he slows things down with Never Going Back Again.
A friend of mine who had never seen Lindsey live was blown away. He said after I Know I'm Not Wrong, "That's a great song. I've never heard that before." Of course, then came Gift of Screws, which sounded fuller than in the boots I've heard, and it's three minutes of electricity. What a great number!
Big Love sounded good. I thought I'd be sick of it, but in this setlist, it comes at the perfect time and really works. I still could do without SHN and a couple other FM numbers, but overall I really loved this setlist. Very gratifying.
Before the show, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Suzy (Triskel) and hubby Otto, who is a very funny, genuinely nice guy who likes to talk, eat and drink. Of course, we hit it off! Suzy is a lovely person, and we had a great time hanging out. Yes, Gerald, we went to Virgil's.
Lindsey hinted at the end of the show that maybe there will be another leg to this tour. He told the audience it was the last show, but then corrected himself and said that it is probably the last show. So he seemed to indicate he is considering going back out. Also, Brett said during the introductions that they are still going to be making a lot of music together.
Maybe the whole FM reunion bit will fall apart and Lindsey will keep this up instead. That would be the dream!
