this time not for concerts but just to have fun with my family. we'll travel west by camper, but first....three days of san francisco!!!!

Seriously, you'll love it i'm sure. I've been to the States several times and the westcoast remains my favorite. If you plan on visiting Lake Powel make sure to go see Antelope Canyon and if you do, see it with a native american guide. It's absolutely breath taking.
And SF : Fisherman's Wharf (tourist trap but a nice one), Alcatraz, the beach, Chinatown, the cable cars...

Then, if you like Italian food, go for lunch or dinner to C & O Trattoria on 31 Washington Boulevard, Marina Del Rey near the Venice Beach pier. After all, you have to go to Venice Beach and C & O (or Cheese and Olive ) has great food and atmosphere. I've recommended it to several friends who went to LA and all of them loved it, especially the garlic rolls
